What can l
do about viruses?
Viruses require you to "run" or "execute" them. This usually occurs when you open a file with an extension of ".exe" or ".doc" or ".vbs" that has a malicious program incorporated with the document. To insure that you do not infect your system, follow these guidelines:
ü Never open documents with the above file extensions from people you do not know.
ü Always run virus checking programs (found from McCafee or Norton or any other familiar program)for all files that you receive, including ones obtained from friends as it is possible for your friend's file system to be affected with viruses without their knowledge.
ü Remember to continually update your anti virus program every three months at least.
ü Never place such files in system-related or program-related directories. Instead, store them separately in a folder all their own. These will also prevent you from accidentally overwriting important files.
ü Please keep in touch with news released about new viruses.
