I'm not sure why, but at random times, I get disconnected off the server. Why?

If you are finding that you are being disconnected to early from the PPP service it could be because one of the following reasons:

1.If the phone line your modem is connected to has call-waiting then any time another phone call comes in you will most likely be disconnected or you internet connection will stall. If anyone picks up another telephone extension on the same telephone line that you are connected with the modem may hang up or stall out.

2.If you have a 56k modem, you may need to upgrade you modem drivers to make them compatible with the latest v90 protocol.

3.The connection might be disrupted and so the connection fails and disconnects.

4.An unrecoverable phone error.

5.A noisy phone line.

6.The distance your computer is away from the actual outlet is of extreme importance. The line quality degrades the farther your modem sends the information to you main phone terminal. If the only cord you have to use is 60 feet long.... it won't work right!!! 3ft to a maximum of 6 ft should be ok. But the practice of running a cord into the other room or downstairs where the phone jack is located, is just a bad idea.
