What is a cookie?

A cookie (on the internet) is a small piece of text that a web site is asking permission to place on your hard drive.  Its purpose is to let the web site know that it have been to their site before. It is a way for them to track repeat visitor and to information about what you look at on their site.  This allows web sites to better their online content to provide you with the information that you are most inter.  Cookies do not hold any personal information about you, unless you supply the information to the web site during your visit.
